A team of about 300 full-time and 650 part-time staff members strong, Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium benefits the lives of more than 1,415 species across 162 acres of land. Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium's hiring managers carefully screen each applicant based on the criteria and qualifications required for each position.
If an applicant has successfully passed the screening process, they will be invited to partake in an interview. Interviews will be done either in-person or via telephone.
Each candidate will complete an interview with a hiring manager regardless of the position's status (full-time or part-time). A human resources representative will also be present during interviews involving full-time position candidates.

If the applicant has accepted the offer for a full-time or part-time position, they will undergo one day of orientation, which will cover Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium's history, as well as the benefits they are entitled to. Additional training may be included once orientation is complete.

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is a multi-faceted operation and we try to develop internships and job shadowing opportunities to encompass all aspects of the Zoo. We currently offer the following opportunities for students 11th grade and older.
Available for students 11th grade through college.
Available for students in college or recent college graduates. There are four sessions for interns each year. The Spring Session (January to the end of April), Summer Session (mid-May to mid-August or September), Fall Session (mid-August to mid-December), and Winter Session (any 6 to 8 week period from mid-December through February). Internship positions fill quickly. It is recommended to submit applications six (6) months ahead of the Spring and Fall Sessions and nine (9) to twelve (12) months ahead of the Summer Session.
