Omaha’s Zoo & Aquarium Celebrates Eugenia’s and Sonny’s First Birthday

Omaha’s Zoo and Aquarium invites the public to join us in celebrating Eugenia’s and Sonny’s first birthdays. The public birthday party for both one-year-old African elephant calves will be Saturday, January 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the Elephant Family Quarters. Omaha's Zoo Announces Male Elephant Calf’s Name

The male African elephant calf born at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium on January 30, 2022, has a name and it is Sonny. “All of us at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium are beyond thrilled to have welcomed two healthy African elephant calves in January. Elephant Calf at Omaha’s Zoo & Aquarium Has A Name

The female African elephant calf born at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium has a name, Eugenia, which means “noble” or “well-born.” Eugenia received her name from the Grewcock Family, who won the naming rights at the Zoo’s fundraiser, Zoofari.
