Omaha’s Zoo and Aquarium Opens Lied Jungle and Desert Dome After No Further Cases of Avian Influenza

The Lied Jungle and Desert Dome at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium are open to guests beginning today, Monday, October 31, 2022. No further cases of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) have been identified on Zoo grounds after two Pink-backed pelicans died of HPAI on October 13 and 14. The Lee G. Omaha’s Zoo and Aquarium Closes Simmons Aviary, Lied Jungle and Desert Dome Due to Avian Influenza Death

The Simmons Aviary, Lied Jungle, and the Desert Dome at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium will be closed to guests beginning Saturday, October 15, 2022, due to the death of a Pink backed pelican from Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). These exhibits will be closed for at least 10 days. The rest of the Zoo, including Mahoney Kingdoms of the Night, will remain open. Omaha's Zoo Celebrates World Snake Day with First-Time Birth

Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium made history of its own with the Zoo’s first-time birth of four endangered eastern indigo snakes on Wednesday, July 14, and Thursday, July 15. The offspring, whose eggs were laid on Wednesday, April 14, with the first one pipping on Tuesday, July 13, emerged just in time for World Snake Day, which is today.
