Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is offering free admission to children, under the age of 12, on Saturday, Dec. 23 and Sunday, Dec. 24. Each adult visitor with paid admission will be allowed free admittance for up to six children.
“The Zoo is happy to extend this holiday gift to the children in our community,” said Dennis Pate, president and CEO of Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. “We hope they will kick off their holiday break at the Zoo, where they can engage with animals, learn about their habitats and conservation, and leave feeling inspired.”
The Zoo has seven acres of indoor exhibits, all of which are perfect to enjoy during the winter months. Guests can warm up inside the Lied Jungle where they will be instantly transported to the hot and humid climate of a rainforest. If Zoo guests would prefer a drier climate, the Desert Dome offers 42,000 square feet of desert – in fact, it’s the largest indoor desert in the world. At the Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium guests can walk on the bottom of the ocean and come nose-to-nose with sea turtles and sharks in the 70-foot shark tunnel. The Durham TreeTops Restaurant offers hot and cold food options as well as indoor seating.
The Zoo and Aquarium will be open regular hours, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on both days. Exhibit buildings close at 5 p.m.
