Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium will be celebrating World Oceans Day in partnership with DiVentures on Friday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Guests can participate in family-friendly educational activities throughout Zoo grounds. Programming will bring recognition to ocean conservation while teaching guests how their everyday actions impact the world’s oceans and their inhabitants. DiVentures’ Finny the Shark and JCMF Children’s Charities’ Josh the Otter will be walking around the Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium for photo opportunities.
New this year, DiVentures will host a free seminar, “Secrets of the Marine Environment,” at
10 a.m. in the Scott Aquarium Conference Center. The presentation will include information on sea creatures, the health of our world’s oceans and how the public can make a difference.
Activities will also include interpretive talks at the Antarctic Penguin exhibit in the Scott Aquarium and Owen Sea Lion Pool.
Guests will receive ocean-themed gate gifts courtesy of Oriental Trading Company, while supplies last, as well as free airbrush tattoos.
Event activities are free to Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium members or with regular paid Zoo admission.
