Celebrate Earth Day with Us!

Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium and Wildlife Safari Park will be celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 20 with conservation-focused events.

Party for the Planet at Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will feature local conservation-based organizations sharing their expertise and resources about living more sustainably within our communities. Omaha Street Percussion will be performing live music (on recycled trash cans and buckets) throughout the day on the Desert Dome Plaza. Plastilite Corporation will have a truck parked near the front entrance of the Zoo to collect Styrofoam from the public. H&M will also collect clothing items for recycling in the Wild Kingdom Pavilion.

At noon in Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom Pavilion, Diventures will host a seminar about the health of our oceans and things everyone can do to make a difference. This free seminar is part of Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium and Diventures’ Ocean Health Partnership.

Party for the Planet is an Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) sponsored event.  More than 130 zoos and aquariums across the United States are throwing the 12th Annual Party for the Planet, the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America!

Wildlife Safari Park will host Earth Day BioBlitz on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This “Scientist-for-a-Day Exploration” event will include mammal counting, butterfly netting, bug viewing and plant and tree discovering. Wildlife Safari Park guests are invited to form teams and work together to identify as many species of plants, animals, microbes, fungi and other organisms as possible using National Geographic’s free iNaturalist app.
