Learn about the WILD world around you. Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo’s Homeschool Programs are interactive and provide stimulating, inquiry-based learning for students from Pre-K to Middle School.

Pre-K through Grade 5 Homeschool Workshops

These new two hour workshops are designed to take students through three stations where they will participate in exciting and engaging science lessons. This new design will allow all of your children to attend class at the same time.

Students will be grouped together by the following grade levels: Pre-K, K, Grades 1 through 2 and Grades 3-5. Note: A parent is required to stay with a Pre-k to K student. Each group will rotate through three stimulating lessons appropriate for their grade level and focused on a central topic. All lessons are aligned with State standards. Cost is $15.00 per child per workshop (includes Zoo admission for registered child plus admission for one adult). To register please call (402) 738-2092.

Amphibians and Reptiles (PreK thru 5th Grades) –Hop on in to explore the characteristics of amphibians and reptiles along with the problems facing the world’s amphibian population.

Madagascar –Discover what makes this island unique, the problems the island is facing, and the efforts taking place to conserve and restore the diverse species found there.

Ancient Life- Explore ancient life through our traveling exhibit, current exhibits, and Fossil Dig Site.

Buggin’ Out– Fly on in to discover the wonderful world of butterflies, insects, and arachnids. Choose from a single workshop on butterflies or a two-part series on insects and arachnoids and butterflies.

Discovering Dinosaurs- Take a trip back in time to explore the giant world of dinosaurs.

Middle School Homeschool Classes

Cost is $20.00 per class (unless otherwise noted) and includes Zoo admission for the registered student. To register for the Middle School classes please call (402) 738-2092. Classes run from 9 a.m. to Noon unless otherwise stated.
