Wild Again: The Struggle to Save the Black-Footed Ferret - March 3, 2016
Dr. David Jachowski, an assistant professor of wildlife ecology at Clemson University, will deliver his presentation, Wild Again: The Struggle to Save the Black-Footed Ferret, at Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium's Wild Kingdom Pavilion Auditorium on Thursday, March 3, at 6 p.m. This presentation is the first of Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium's new speaker series being offered this year.
Jachowski has spent more than 15 years doing research on endangered black-footed ferret, one of the rarest mammals of North America. In addition, Jachowski spent 10 years as a federal wildlife biologist working to reintroduce and conserve this species on the Great Plains.
For his talk, Jachowski will provide an engaging narrative account of the historical decline and modern conservation of the black-footed ferret on the Great Plains, one of the most remarkable recovery efforts in the history of the Endangered Species Act and symbolic of a new conservation ethic that has emerged on the Great Plains over the past several decades.
This program is offered free of charge, but requires a reservation. Click here
and select Speaker Series from the Tickets & Events drop-down menu.
