Meet the Green Team
The Green Team is a dedicated group of volunteers from across the Zoo. Each member is passionate about sharing green practices with Zoo visitors, employees, volunteers and partners. In addition to the Green Team, the Zoo is fortunate to have a Green Team Advisory Committee dedicated to championing sustainability efforts at the Zoo and at home.
Because so many activities happen at the Zoo every day, the Green Team and the Green Team Advisory Committee are committed to helping everyone—from animal care staff to concessions employees to school groups—help take better care of the planet. By caring for the environment, we can also better care for the animals at the Zoo and the animals still in the wild.
Green Team Goals
The Green Team’s goals include:
- Serving as a communications liaison for the Omaha Zoo’s employees, volunteers and visitors regarding organizational sustainability efforts.
- Supporting the Zoo’s efforts to reduce waste, increase recycling, conserve energy and water, use green building techniques, and practice environmentally-preferable purchasing.
